Kingdom Improvements

Welcome back to another Inside the Monarchy Devlog. Today we will be discussing two new features that have been completed - these being yearly events and buildings.

We will start with buildings. You can make improvements to your Kingdom (at a cost), which will be extremely beneficial for your Kingdom in the long run. For instance, building a barracks will improve your soldiers strength by a certain percent. These buildings are crucial to becoming a strong Kingdom and taking over Avarion. Be careful not to invest too early though, as if your army isn't big enough to withstand an invasion, your newly built structures may become the latest victims of war. Buildings are key - and one of our main tips when you try the game would be prioritise these structures to gain an advantage in the wars to come.

Now let's talk about yearly events. Certain things will happen at the start of each year in the game which will have a big effect on how you run your Kingdom that year. For example, a plague could strike, leading to a large loss in population - which effects your tax income at the end of the year. Another example would be that the Kingdom goes through a drought - leading to building structures being 25% more expensive due to the fact that all your workers are exhausted and malnourished. These events could be tiny little inconveniences, or could be the nail in the coffin for your reign. These events will keep you on your toes and always be at the back of your mind. You can do certain things to lessen the chances of this however - certain buildings will give you a better chance at avoiding these disasters.

That's going to be all for today's devlog. Please let me know if you would like to test the game for me, as I need some feedback on balancing. Make sure to follow us on Twitter @SideJobStudios. We will be posting screenshots over on there. Thank you!
